From within a few metres of the sea at the historic Castle in Cape Town, and remaining within metres of the beach we move up the eastern seaboard to a development equally steeped in history. For the very first time, we move Convention right inside a SALI Awards of Excellence award winning project, Zimbali, from 4-7 June 2013.

An unspoiled shoreline, rolling hills and lush flora have come to define the Zimbali Coastal Resort region. Translated as “the Valley of Flowers”, Zimbali is set along KZN’s Dolphin coast, nestled between a forest reserve and a shimmering sea, with its exquisite natural beauty dotted with pockets of urban flair and enhanced by the rich Zulu heritage of the KwaZulu-Natal province. Conceived and developed by KZN sugar cane giants, Tongaat Hullet,  Zimbali is an incredible ecological success, and is a unique world resort in its own right on our very own doorstep. You simply have to be there.

The choice of Convention venue has everything to do with the ultimate success of Convention, so when we researched KZN for 2013 as per the pre-determined cycle, we really needed to find something very different to anything we’ve done before in KZN. We also grappled with how to move on from the historic Gala Dinner at The Castle last year, and an additional complication is the fact that KZN does not experience anywhere near the low season effect that Cape Town experiences during June, so rates have been extraordinarily difficult to negotiate. As a result, by comparison with Convention in Cape Town last year, we simply cannot expect the same rates this year, but despite all of this, we are delighted to announce an incredible venue for Convention 2013.

The SAGIC Convention will offer plenty of options:
